In Memory of Clive Kerr
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Clive Kerr on Friday, 6 June 2025. His daughter shared that Clive passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, and was smiling until the very end, a testament to the warmth and kindness he carried throughout his life.
Clive’s career in aviation was both remarkable and inspiring. He began his professional journey with the Met Office, before learning to fly at Denham and earning his professional pilot’s licence. He was part of the early days of British Island Airways (BIA), flying into the newly opened oil fields of the North Sea and logging many hours on the Fokker F27. He later transitioned to the BAe 146, where he served with distinction as a Captain. Clive was admired not only for his skill and knowledge but also for his calm and generous spirit. Those who flew with him remember him with both affection and respect.
After retiring from commercial aviation, Clive continued to nurture his love of flight by piloting model aircraft, ‘the real ones,’ as he liked to say, acknowledging that even these could feel as nerve-wracking as a base check. His passion for aviation never dimmed.
Beyond his flying achievements, Clive made a lasting impact on our community through his pivotal role in organising the AirUK Reunions, working closely with Adele Stephenson. His dedication helped foster the camaraderie and shared history that have kept so many of us connected over the years.
Clive’s passing leaves a profound void in our hearts, but his legacy of friendship, professionalism, and joy in flight will live on in all who knew him.
Clive’s funeral will be held at Dunmow Crematorium on Monday, 23 June 2025, at 16:00.
With the Wake at the Angel and Harp pub after (approx. 17:30), tea and coffee and a finger buffet will be provided.
The more the merrier, hopefully this will provide an opportunity for people to come together and share some laughs and stories
