Clive enjoyed a remarkable and inspiring career in aviation. He began his professional life with the Met Office before learning to fly at Denham and obtaining his professional pilot’s licence.

He was part of the early days of British Island Airways (BIA), flying into the newly established North Sea oil fields and gaining considerable experience on the Fokker F27. He later progressed to the BAe 146, where he served with distinction as a Captain.

Clive was admired not only for his considerable flying skills and knowledge, but also for his calm, generous and friendly nature. Those fortunate enough to have flown with him remember him with great affection and respect.

Following his retirement from commercial aviation, Clive continued to enjoy his passion for flying through model aircraft. He affectionately referred to them as “the real ones”, recognising that flying them could sometimes be every bit as nerve-wracking as a base check. His love of aviation never left him.

Clive also made a significant contribution to our wider aviation community through his important role in organising the AirUK Reunions, working closely with Adele Stephenson. His enthusiasm and dedication helped maintain the camaraderie, friendships and shared history that have kept so many of us connected over the years.

Clive’s passing leaves a great void for all who knew him. He will be remembered for his friendship, professionalism, generosity and enduring passion for flight, and his legacy will live on in the many people whose lives he touched.
